Problems and Issues
Addressed
Some of the problems
that frequently come up in my work with individuals and couples:
How do I know who
I am?
What's the point of my being here in this world?
What's my personal worth?
How do I deal with anger?
How do I communicate so others will accurately understand me?
What's so important about love?
How do I identify and respond to traumas from my past?
How do I ensure that they do not interfere with my present life?
How do I appreciate and do what is best for those I love?
How do I avoid imposing my own prejudices and confusion on others?
How do I make the best of my possibly troubled life?
This list, of course, could go on to
a great length.

Don's Convictions:
It is my conviction that each person, regardless of the difficulties
of the moment, has a life that at its core is very worthwhile. I
further believe that each person has a wonderful purpose in life
that is achievable.
I believe that each person's existence has a worth and meaning far
more significant than may be recognized by the world around us.
Personal problems can be resolved in terms of the most obvious experiences
at hand. Deeper, more central experiences can also be used as problem
solvers. I believe it is right to use the problem solving level
most meaningful for you now.
The Great Medium and its message
Three Reports from Don on some of the
professional sharing that we enjoyed during our last few Westend
Counselling Network meetings.
One fascinating focus of attention was
“water.” Dr. Masaru Emoto from Yokohama Japan has been
busy revealing amazing facts about water. He discovered that frozen
crystals revealed a good deal about the water used to make them.
His work makes it clear that “molecules of water are affected
by our thoughts, words, and feelings.”
Think of it! Your body is about 70% water.
Every thought, feeling, intention, insight, belief, judgment, concern,
and on that you have or that happens in the world around you influences
the water that helps keep your body alive. Water influenced by love
and gratitude produces wonderfully balanced and beautiful crystals.
Water influenced by negative, hateful, fearful thoughts or feelings
produces ugly, distorted crystals or none at all.
We chared some of his crystal pictures
published in “The Hidden Messages in Water.” We joined
in speculations explored by Dr. Emoto, Sandi Radomski and others
expanding the potentials involved in using water wisdom therapeutically.
New worlds are opening!
Bruce Lipton, PhD. In “The Biology
of Belief” shares highlights of his journey studying the biology
of human body cells. For him the journey involved growing from a
highly intellectual, scientific atheism into a wide open mysticism.
His discoveries indicate that human cells respond to all reality
within and around much like Dr. Emoto finds water responding.
Dr. Lipton sees the skin of each of the
many trillions of cells in our bodies functioning like a brain.
Influences from all domains (vibrational, physical, psychological
and spiritual) are processed by these cell brains and influence
the structure and functioning of every cell. It is thus no surprise
to discover that the very cells of our bodies carry records of all
our experiences, good and bad, and if bad, need to be healed for
a more comprehensive wellbeing to be achieved.
One of the challenges of contemporary
therapy is to help provide restoration, balance, energy and healing
for every aspect of our presence in life. We now are well alerted
to the evidence that such therapeutic concerns need to go even deeper
that Dr. Lipton's electron microscope. We can no longer be content
with healing the mechanical aspects of our lives, as wonderful as
our achievements are in that area.
It seems that a vast expanse of our journey
into healing excellence yet lies ahead.
Approaching our professional interest
from quite a different angle we spent some time sharing a few thoughts
about T Harv Eker's book “Secrets of the Millionaire Mind.”
Eker proclaims, p. 198, “If you want the world to be a certain
way, then start with you being that way. If you want the world to
be a better place, start with you being better.” And for you
(us) to be better Harv sees the mind as our starting point.
Psychologically it is becoming ever more
evident that the meaning patterns and the meaning-making patterns
we birth within ourselves are the beginnings of our personal, human
development. The paths of our development are greatly influenced
by our starting points. If a path proves dysfunctional a new starting
point is often the best solution.
In the”Millionaire Mind”
Eker exemplifies this wisdom in many concrete, humorous and practical
ways. He is giving thousands of people new foundations for their
lives. He doesn't say it, but his use of money and riches can easily
be taken metaphorically and used as a take off point for further
personal, human development. He reminds me of a long standing observation
I've made to the effect that “one of the most meaningful and
exciting aspects of my work is helping people who are doing well
do better.”
